Indian Bread Shop by SAADI x Christine Tran
We love bread!
In a parallel universe, we’d have our own little bakery. Until that dream becomes a reality, we’re transforming into the Indian Bread Shop on Sunday 26 July for a big, bready brunch party.
Because neither of us are formally trained, we are having our first ever collaboration with the amazing baker Christine Tran. She’s kind of a big deal. She used to be the head baker and co-owner of Falco, helps out at Loafer, was at Tivoli Road Bakery in its heyday, and also did a stint at Tartine in San Francisco (yes, that one).
We’ve combined forces to bring you 4 distinct bread sets ranging from shio pan to focaccia, reimagined with bhaji (as in pav bhaji), paired with an aromatic Meredith ex-dairy goat Naubahar stew, fried up with chole (spiced chickpeas), and topped with green chilli chutney, gratinated cheese and eggs.
As dessert-lovers, we are serving two sweets. Christine’s baking a chocolate brownie tart that we will serve with our brown butter sorbet, and we’re going to smother her rhubarb crumble cake in a cardamom-spiced custard.
Our Indian Bread Shop will be open on Sunday July 26 from 11am, and we’ll be slinging breads, drinks, tarts and cake until 3pm or sold out.
