Indian Chook Shop by SAADI x Avani

June 20 from 4pm

$65pp, food only | $110pp, food and Avani wine pairing

When it gets cold, all we want is a charcoal chook and a bottle of wine.

So, for one night only, we’re transforming into an Indian Chook Shop with a special wine list by our friends at Avani. We’ll be doing charcoal chook the Saadi way while also highlighting the lesser-known traditions of Indian cooking, like roast meats.

The chook is a take on chicken cafreal – a stewed Goan dish with roots in Mozambique, brought to India by Portuguese colonists. Ours will be crisp-skinned, cooked whole on the spit and carved from the crown after being basted in browned butter, coriander and peppercorn paste. It will be served on top of a vibrant cafreal sauce with pickled kohlrabi, accompanied by spiced potatoes and salad.

Eating with your hands is encouraged.

You’ll start with snacks of Day’s Walk Farm cauliflower Gobi 65, and Meredith ex-dairy goat qeema kebab.

The entire menu is gluten-free. Add-ons and wines will be available to order on the evening.
